Berni Searle was born in Cape Town, South Africa (1964), where she currently lives and works. Best known for producing digital video and lens-based media installations, her "performative" works may be seen as a series of ongoing explorations around issues of self-representation, personal and collective identity. She has shown her work at the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale, the 7th Cairo Biennale, DakArt, Authentic/Ex-centric at the 49th Venice Biennale as well as venues around the USA, Germany, Spain and Italy.
