Live Guides wanted to support audience engagement programme for Artes Mundi 6

Date posted: June 19, 2014

 Deadline extended!

Artes Mundi is an international contemporary visual arts initiative, committed to recognising and showing some of the most exciting emerging artists from around the world and to inspiring new and existing audiences. Every two years a shortlist is selected and a body of work by each artist is shown. The Artes Mundi 6 exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff, Chapter and Ffotogallery from 24 October 2014 – 22 February 2015, will feature nine practices by an international shortlist, presenting work that discusses the human condition and engages with social reality and lived experience. The Artes Mundi 6 Prize will be awarded in January 2015 to one of the shortlisted artists.

Artes Mundi is looking for a team of Live Guides to support our accompanying audience engagement programme. The Live Guides will be a valuable point of contact for audiences, interpreting individual works, discussing ideas which derive from them and the exhibition as a whole. The role will involve answering questions from visitors, leading guided tours and devising and facilitating specific workshops catering for a wide variety of audiences including families, schools, colleges and community groups.

• Do you have knowledge of and a passion for contemporary art?

• Do you have a fine art related education qualification or relevant experience?

• Can you communicate clearly – verbally and through writing at a range of levels with individuals of all ages?

• Are you enthusiastic, ready to engage and reliable?

Individuals will be required to familiarise themselves thoroughly with the work of each artist and the cultural context of the work.

Full training will be provided in September prior to the exhibition opening. The rate of pay is £10 per hour. Both part-time and full-time positions are available. These positions are subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
