Artes Mundi works in partnership with a large number and wide range of organisations across the public, private, arts and education sectors.

It was established in 2002 with the support of the Welsh Assembly Government, the City and County of Cardiff, Arts Council Wales, BBC Wales and the Derek Williams Trust.  The Artes Mundi Exhibition is organised in association with Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales and presented at the National Museum Cardiff. All remain key partners and, for Artes Mundi 3, are joined by principal sponsor St David’s 2, Gerald Eve and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management.  These new commercial sponsorships have triggered additional investment from Arts & Business.

Other sponsors include Saville Audio Visual, Legal & General, Hilton Cardiff and, from the higher education sector, ATRiuM, University of Glamorgan, Cardiff University, the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) and the University of Wales.
Media Partners are Sky Arts and the Western Mail

Trusts and Foundations supporting Artes Mundi 3 are the Esmeé Fairbairn Foundation, the Foyle Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Colwinston Charitable Trust, Myristica Trust, the Woo Charitable Foundation, the Derek Hill Foundation and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Support has also been received from Wales Arts International, Australia Council for the Arts, Contemporary Art Society for Wales and Visiting Arts.
