CLOSED: Artes Mundi Trustee Call-Out

Closing date for expressions of interest: closed

Artes Mundi regularly renews its Trustee body. We are currently recruiting for up to four Trustees who feel they can offer one or more of the following in their experience and interests:

  • a good understanding of the value of sound legal frameworks and good governance to ‘third sector’ or arts organisations

  • an understanding of the role of the arts and education in strategic contexts in Wales public life, such as in government policy; the funding of charitable bodies; in the strategic roles of arts and third sector organisations in diverse communities

  • experience in promoting opportunity to participate in learning and cultural work to and with people of diverse backgrounds

  • experience in cultural networks nationally and internationally

Knowledge of contemporary art is less important than a passion for promoting the potential of cultural projects to bring people of all backgrounds together through the arts, education and social interaction.

We especially encourage expressions of interest from people of colour and younger people (under the age of 35), as well as those whose experiences and perspectives are currently under-represented on the Board and in the arts sector.

For an informal conversation and further information, please contact Lianne Toye, Deputy Director and Head of Development on lianne.toye@artesmundi.org

Background: Artes Mundi

Artes Mundi is the key internationally focused flagship visual arts organisation in Wales generating unique opportunities for individuals and local communities to engage creatively with the urgent issues of our time in ways which resonate with us all.

Founded in 2002 as a biennial exhibition and prize, we have become one of the best-known visual arts organisations in the UK with an extensive national and international profile and critical reputation. The exhibition and prize remain at the core of Artes Mundis programme of activity, but its year roundactivity with artists, communities and collaborating partners has expanded over 20 years to what it is today.

Artes Mundi is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. The Trustees are  ultimately responsible for the organisations work.

It is led by a Director and a small but dedicated team. They are augmented by a variety of other roles for individuals recruited for specific projects.

Artes Mundi receives core public funding as a National Portfolio organisation from the Arts Council of Wales and Cardiff City Council, and is also supported by a range of Trusts, Foundations, Government agencies and Donors.
