Freya Dooley’s practice incorporates writing, sound, moving image, installation, and performance. Rooted in close-range observations and unstable structures, her semi-fictional narratives and sonic compositions expand on subjects of work and replacement, social dynamics, and the harmonies and tensions between personal and collective experiences.
Freya was the 2021 Creative Wales Fellow at the British School at Rome, Italy. Recent solo exhibitions and performances include Diamonds and Rust, Goldsmiths CCA, London (2022); Temporary Commons, Jerwood Solo Presentations, Jerwood Arts, London (2021); The Eavesdropper, Green Man Festival, Powys (2021); Scenes from Between the Mountains and the Sea, Beppu Project, Japan (2020) and New Writing with New Contemporaries, Leeds Art Gallery and South London Gallery (2019-20).
