Glynn Vivian Art Gallery’s ‘Threads’ group
July 2023 – April 2024
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund
As part of the public programme for AM10, we worked in partnership with venues to develop a series of projects with communities. These were realised in response to the themes and ideas present in the practice and works on display from each of the seven artists. The projects took multiple forms while communities also contributed to our podcast series and the production of interpretative labels shown in the galleries.

Working with the ‘Threads’ group and artist Menna Buss, the project unfolded in response to the work of Nguyen Trình Thi at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, culminating in the creation of a series of crochet chillis that were produced and used to decorate the Christmas Tree at the museum. They also contributed to the Explore exhibition at the Factory in Porth, working with Valley Kids, and visited Chapter and National Museum Cardiff for tours of AM10. We also enabled the ‘Threads’ group to make connections with the Aurora Trinity Collective during this period. The project involved 17 participants and six workshops, four interviews for inclusion in podcasts, a text produced as a ‘para-label’, and two exchange visits, in addition to textiles production.
